THE EUGENE Studio exhibition “1/2 Century later.”
Contemporary Artist from Japan, THE EUGENE Studio who gains attention as the upcoming in the field of art × technology.
How we can visualize the future and lead ideal future－

A vision of art leading experiment / practice towards the unknown society will appear in Shiseido gallery.
AI ( Artificial Intelligence ), Iot ( Internet of things ), AR ( Augmented Reality ) etc. The fusion area of art / design and engineering / science is attracting attention with the acceleration of technology and society development in the background.
Rhizomatiks, which directed the 2020 Tokyo Olympics performance at the closing ceremony of Rio Olympics. Team Lab, which lead the immersive experiential digital art world. Takram, which is widely known as a design engineering group. Who will follow them here, in Japan? The name which “ The era of art × technology ” , a publication written by art director Daisuke Miyazu mentioned was THE EUGENE STUDIO. The studio was established by Eugene Kangawa and Masashi Wada, evolving two-dimensional art works, video works and installation works with scripts and scenarios as their core. In recent years, they have experienced cooperative researches in the leading field, for instance AI, education, urban and biotechnology and also had a collaboration work with Ken Ryu, a Sci-Fi author who has won three notable American Sci-Fi prizes.
And this time, they will be visualizing the image of future “ after half a century from then ” , 1968 the year our future image has been determined by numerous Sci-Fi masterpieces. What is the vision they would present as the leader of art × technology field which is explosively evolving around the world. Organism × machine, Physical reality × digital, originality × reproducibility ... I would like to expect a lot to their young talent which will lead the future society.
