David Geers (Art Critic)
David Geers is an art critic who lives and works in New York. His writing has appeared in October, Frieze, Fillip, BOMB, The Brooklyn Rail, The Third Rail Quarterly, among other publications. Often focusing on the convergence of painting, politics and technology, his recent works include: “Neo-Modern,” October No. 139 (Winter 2012), “Formal Affairs,” Frieze, No. 169 (March 2015) and “Acts of Recognition,” Frieze, No. 191 (November-December 2017).

Kcnichiro Ito (Shiseido Gallery Curator)
Born in 1970 in Chiba Prefecture. In 1993 Graduated from Gakushuin University Faculty of Literature Philosophy Department specialized in Aesthetics and Art history. In the same year, Joined Shiseido Co., Ltd. In 2000 complete Inter Medium Institute Art Theory major. In 2009 transfered to Shiseido Corporate Culture Department. Appointed to current position in 2015 via Shiseido corporate museum.

 

「1/2 Century later.」——In the case of conceptual art

Arata Hasegawa (Independent Curator)
Born in 1988. Main projects include On an Uninhabited Island: Sculpture/Stereotomy/Installation of “The 80s” (2014, Gallery Aube Kyoto University of Art and Design); Palais de Kyoto: The Sound Made by Reality (2015, ARTZONE & VOX Building): Chronicle, Chronicle! (2016-2017, Creative Center Osaka); and Impurity / Immunity (2017-2018, Tokyo Art and Space Hongo in Tokyo, BARRAK 1 in Okinawa, BARRAK pavilion in Bangkok). Participated in the selected competition for Japan Pavilion of 58th Venice Biennale. PARADISE AIR guest curator for FY2017. Senior Lecturer at Nippon Photography Institute. A member of Book Review Committee of Architectural Institute Japan.

 

On the significance of THE EUGENE Studio toward the future after 50 years

Daisuke Miyatsu (Art Collector)
Art collector, professor at Yokohama University of Art and Design, visiting professor at Kyoto University of Art and Design. Born in Tokyo in 1963. Previous occupations include working at an advertising agency and in the PR and HR departments of a listed company. He began collecting art in 1994 while still working for a company, and worked with artists in a joint project to construct his own home, which was widely publicized in Japan and abroad. Served on the Agency for Cultural Affairs’ Committee for Introducing Japanese Contemporary Art to Foreign Countries and Regions and on the judging panel for Asian Art Award 2017. Publications include Aato × Tekunorojii no Jidai [The age of Art × Technology – revolutionary changes in a society brought about by the creative business] (Kobunsha Shinsho), Gendai Aato Keizaigaku [Contemporary Art Economics] (Kobunsha Shinsho), and Gendai Aato wo Kaou! [Let’s Buy Contemporary Art!] (Shueisha Shinsho, Jincheng Press (China), Uni Books (Taiwan), ArtBooks (South Korea)).

 

In large edition, more pictures and essays will be included.
